„Abstract City“ – Exhibition Artworks – Happy Art Week 2026
My name is OLGA TARABUKINA. I am the founder and curator of CREATIVE PROJECT NEW. This project was created to support artists on their path toward growth, visibility. and professional development. As a curator, I have extensive experience in the European art field. My background includes working as a creative and art director, filmmaker, writer, fashion designer, street artist, and painter. However, today my primary focus is on art photography. CREATIVE PROJECT NEW is a space for collaboration, artistic growth, and long-term creative development. Follow us and support the artists and who knows, in the future, you might become a part of us, too!

Project Description: „Abstract City“ explores the possibility of abstraction within photography. Rather than documenting architecture or urban space, the project reveals abstract structures that already exist in reality. Through perspective, framing, light, movement, and color, familiar environments are trans- formed into autonomous visual compositions in which buildings lose their descriptive function and become relationships of line, geometry, rhythm, and balance. The series continues a dialogue with the visual language of Constructivism and Suprematism, translating their search for essential form into the photographic medium. Unlike painting, however, these images are not construc- ted from imagination. Every composition originates in the real world. Abstraction is not invented but discovered within existing space. By reducing recognizable objects to their formal qualities, Abstract City challenges photography’s traditional docu- mentary role and proposes another way of seeing, one in which reality becomes the material for visual thought rather than mere representation. Abstraction is not separate from the world around us, but already embedded within it, waiting to be perceived.

Creative Project NEW is a curatorial collaboration where artists develop their own projects under the guidance of a curator. It is, first of all, a process of creating art: structured, focused, and intentional. At the same time, it is a strong support system within a group, where artists grow together, exchange experience, and challenge each other. Through this process, artists expand their artistic field, deepen their practice, and reach new creative horizons.

Exhibition Artworks – Happy Art Week
OLGA TARABUKINA, art photographer, born in Ukraine in 1983, first studied philology at the University of Kiev, Ukraine, and ten years later studied media design at the Babelsberg Media School in Potsdam. Her artistic work began with literature in her home town. She wrote novellas dealing with existential themes. In 2005, she moved to Potsdam and sought new paths in visual storytelling. Her short film was nominated for the final of the IKZ Short Film Festival Potsdam, „Extremism No Thanks“ in 2013.

As a communication designer, she has been working for the Berlin fashion industry for many years. She is increasingly finding her artistic expression in photography, in search of an aesthetic that reflects emotional life in its vulnerable sensuality. At the end of 2023, she initiated her project „Self-Portrait of Fear“, which explores inner fear through an ongoing photographic experiment of naked exposure and expresses it visually.

Artist Statement: In my artistic work, I set myself themes that are currently relevant to me and that I can tackle because I am prepared to engage in the special game of getting to know myself. This means that my paintings are always a mirror of my inner life, which I approach in small steps. I feel connected to Pictorialism, which established photography as a fully-fledged means of artistic expression right from the start. But it is also the many impressions from the outside that evoke sensations that lead me to touch on this or that subject.

This is how photography opened up the artistic possibility for me to capture the ephemeral in the moment and make it available for the future in a real-surreal and suprematist way. Old masters such as Rembrandt and Bellini inspire me to create a painterly aesthetic in the photograph. I use photography as a medium of faith and experiment with reality, not least to create imaginary spaces and, like David Lynch in his filmography, to visualize certain emotional states. My pictures therefore bear witness to experiences in which I come into contact with myself, in search of the hidden sides of myself and every personality.
